Mum's Birthday (13 Nov 2011)
We celebrated mum’s birthday at Ah Yat Abalone’s Restaurant at Jalan Ampang, right opposite KLCC. Mum and Pa had specially ordered abalone set while the rest enjoyed the normal food menu. As usual, kids had whale of time running and chatting about. We ended with pandan layered cake which was mum’s favourite.

Melaka Trip (26 and 27 Nov 2011)
Melaka Trip (26 & 27 Nov 2011)
Started our journey around 8 something am from SD. Bought some bread a night before in case kids were hungry. Have to note not to buy the coconut filling bread as kids do not seem to like it. Favourite should be kaya filling bread. They managed to finish the bread by the time we reached Melaka. Kwee Yap four single friends joined us at a highway just before Seremban.
Our first “makan” stop was at the famous Hainanese chicken rice ball shop at the cornet lot (Chung Wah restaurant at Jln Hang Jebat). Fortunately we reached just before 12pm hence the crowd was still bearable. By the time we left the eatery, the queue was so long. Frankly we found the food average. Right after the chicken rice stint, we proceeded to 2nd joint which is a quaint restaurant named Donald & Lily's restaurant which is not too far away from the chicken rice shop. Can’t really remember the actual name but the nyonya laksa was sure memorable though the rojak tasted more like chee cheong fun as it has chee cheong fun ingredient .
After that, we visited Kwee Yap’s friend at his family owned paint shop. There was a Chinese temple nearby where we went for a quick pray. Headed to Mahkota service apartment for a quick shower and break. Poor Tong, she had milk + bread for lunch. But she seemed very energetic and not ready for nap. Around 3pm, we left the accommodation for Nyonya food at a restaurant recommended by Kwee Yap friends which was our 3rd food stop. Kwee Yap friends ordered full range and we even had rice to go along the many dishes. Right after the heavy meal, we went to our 4th food stop which was Capitol satay celup restaurant at Lorong Bukit Cina. The queue was so long so we settled for another joint next to it. By that time, Tong could no longer stay awake but it was ok as both Kwee Yap and I were too full for another round. Both Sean and Ye could still eat and they enjoyed their prawns and meat balls. Fortunately after the 4th stop, there was a short break so we went back to our apartment. Around 8pm , we went out for the last food stop for the day, “Malay Ikan Bakar” at Muara Sungai Duyung next to a river side. The queue was not too long but the wait was so long. Kwee Yap’s friend waited almost 1 hour to order as customer has to choose the seafood, weighed and decide how to cook the food.
We had some nasi lemak and drank coconut and sugar cane juice to kill time. Fortunately all the kids were manageable as they were not hungry. Before we came out, Tong had her milk as dinner. We found that the ikan bakar at Umbai was much better and decided to go there given a choice.
The next day, we brought kids for a swim at the pool below. The boys had a whale of time but Tong found the water too cold for her liking. I bought her to kids playroom nearby and she too enjoyed the toys there. We drove out to hunt for breakfast but could not find a good Chinese eateries nearby. We ended up having famous mee rebus and packed some for Kwee Yap’s friends. We checked our shortly and headed for the famous crepe cake shop named “Nadeje” at Plaza Mahkota. They have extensive selection of crepe cakes and i found this shop has more selection than the one I had at Sec 17. This is the best catch so far , aside from the nyonya laksa. Overall this trip was memorable for the huge amount of food consumed under such short period. Really “pui fook” our stomach for being able to digest huge sum of food and to Kwee Yap’s friends who can really eat a lot. It also shown that both our boys have high potential of being able to eat large variety of food. Tong has been a good girl and we noticed that she must be famished after the trip as she consumed 2 bowls of porridge (she normally had ¾ or max 1 bowl) followed by a boiled egg (which she took from the table and de-shell herself), after that she had dinner with us (consuming rice + soup ). I guessed it should be a good idea to bring her out from time to time so she could appreciate home cooked food better, haha.
