This year, kids played lantern 4 times no thanks to looming year end final exam. Ye’s fish lantern still manage to with stand test of time haha or more accurately test of candles. Xuan has passed over one of his “Spider man” lantern to Tong Chai. All the plastic lanterns are still in good shapes and can be used for another year. Tong Tong may be too small to appreciate the whole process; she tried dousing off brothers lighted candles till Sean can no longer tolerate her and called for help.
On 19 Oct 2010, mum cooked a feast and we celebrated moon cake festival a day earlier. It has been quite some time since we truly enjoy ourselves to the fullest. Thanks to Chee Shan huge garden, kids ran around the garden and we lighted lanterns at the fence. Father even lighted rows of candles for the kids to blow. Kids were so excited on seeing candles and can’t help themselves singing “Happy Birthday” song and blew the candles after that. Adults sipped Chinese tea provided by Chee Shan and family and mum took out moon cakes as well as moon cakes tidbits for all to enjoy. It’s truly a merry night, the moon appeared unusually bright for the night. Let’s hope this will continue for many more years to come. Kwee Yap became the photographer for the night.
Mid autumn festival falls on 22 Sep 2010. Since it’s a school day and working day, kids were allowed to play lanterns at night. After a quick dinner, kids rushed out to light candles and lantern. Since Kwee Yap was out with colleagues , I and 3 kids had a brief walk around the Taman. Noticed only one family celebrated the festival, probably since the day clashed with UPSR. At night we cut a moon cake to celebrate the day.
